The Civil War Years

Charlotte Day(John2,John1) was born 1815  and died before 1886. She married a widower with children, John D. Jamerson, possibly his third wife, on October 5, 1859 in Buckingham Co., Va. He was the son of John Jimmerson and Peggy.He was a private in the War of 1812 , Co.5,U.S. Infantry and received a Bounty Land Warrent for his military service.In the census of 1870, Charlotte Jamerson has only the three youngest sons,George 32yr.,William 23yr., and Moses 21yr.,living with her. None of the children were her own.

John Day III ( John2, John1) was born 1815 in Francisco Dist. Buckingham Co. and died May 13,1888 in Francisco Dist.Served in Civil War Co. E3 59th Infantry. He married 1/ Mary,b.Jan.20,1813 in Buckingham Co. Mary died in childbirth with their 13th child on Oct.23,1860. 2/ Charlotte Davidson May 21, 1862 in Buckingham Co. She was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Davidson. In the 1900 census of Buckingham Co. she is living with her daughter Willie and grandson Van Buren Day..

3/ Sarah Frances Day, b. Oct.22,1839 m. Stinson Bryant, Dec.24,1863.. She was a teacher. In the 1860 census she lived with and worked for Hiram Brown.Possibly a kin  relationship since her greatuncle Benjamin had married an Elizabeth Brown.

4/ Eliza S. Day, b. No.15,1840  m. Thomas A. Childress Dec.2, 1862

They moved to Appomattox,Va.,raised six children.

James Henry Day ( John2, John1 ) was born 1822 and died after 1902. He married Virginia Elizabeth Bryant.His occupation was farmer.They raised their family in New Canton on Slate River.He was a confederate soldier in the Civil War,Co.C 3rd Rt.
